LEARNING HUB & SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

It necessary to cover all the education needs of a child in a specified geographical area as a thrust towards continuing education. This isbecause individual children often jump from one education system to another ina location and often also drop out of school. Hence tapping specific educationalinstitutions may not be enough and it is necessary to create a hub where anychild, irrespective of the nature of education system he or she is attachedto, can come for bridging theirlearning gaps. This will allow for a kind of integrated approach. Another important aspect that played a key role here is the introduction of RTE.With RTE, education centres run by various organisations gradually shut downas they did not cater to RTE stringencies for schools. However, the scope andneed for linking drop out children with education, mainstreaming children, providing bridge courses so that children enrolled in school but unable to attainage and class appropriate learning levels are able to learning remained.Government schools, particularly in states like Uttar Pradesh, were not equippedto look into these dimensions. Here too, the learning hub was designed to playa pivotal role in mainstreaming drop outs and ensuring age and classappropriate quality education to the already enrolled. So quality ineducation to ensure age appropriate competency outcomes will be addressed.
